'lil ladybug

This is our adorable 'lil ladybug. Madison was so excited to wear her costume to daycare today. They had a little Halloween party for all the kids. She did not like the hood and antennae very much tho!

Halloween is always a nice excuse to visit Madison's Great-Grandmothers. Instead of Trick or Treating around the neighborhood, we go visiting. It's so much fun for her Great Grandma's to see her in her costume! In the car, we practiced saying Trick or Treat - or in Madison's words "Twicker Teat." However, once we got to the door, she would get all excited and forget what she needed to say.

This is Madison with her Great Grandma Lee on the left and Great Grandma Dubbels on the right.

We learned that Madison likes Tootsie Rolls - A LOT. Great Grandma Lee had a bowl of candy and Madison picked out all the tootsie rolls and added them to her candy bag. It was too darn cute to stop her.

I only wish that Madison's other Grandparents and Great Grandparents lived closer so we could go "Twicker Teating" at their house too!

When I was a kid.....

Okay - so now that I am 29 for the third time - I thought I would share this. I received it in an email, so I cannot cite the source but it is funny and so true, I just had to share. Enjoy!

To the Spoiled Under 30 Club:

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tediousdiatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up;what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning ....uphill BOTH ways yadda, yadda, yadda! And I remember promising myselfthat when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easythey've got it!

Now that I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damnUtopia! And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it! I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!! There was no email! We had to actually write somebody a letter...with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!

There were no MP3's or Napsters! If you wanted to steal music, you hadto hitch hike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up!

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on thephone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it! And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games withhigh-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids' and the graphics sucked! Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

When you went to the movie theater there no such thing as stadium seating! All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy or some old broad with a hat sat in front of you and you couldn't see, you were just screwed! Sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like15 channels and there was no on screen menu and no remote control! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel and there was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little bastards!

And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove or go build a frigging fire .... imagine that! If we wanted popcorn, we had to use that stupid Jiffy Pop thing and shake it over the stove forever like an idiot. That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled!!!!!!!!! You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980!

Oh yea, and a seatbelt was Mom throwing her arm across your chestevery time she hit the brakes.

Regards,
The over 30 Crowd

Fairy Princess

Okay, so this is a ballerina costume - but she looks just like a little fairy princess in it! Madison recieved a dress up trunk for her birthday from her Great Grandma Muldoon. She is so darn cute when she plays with it. I think her favorite item is the sunglasses but she also really enjoys the bracelets and rings. We had such a great time playing dress up a few nights ago - I can't wait to get her some more dress up clothes to play with. The fairy wand seemed more like a microphone to Madison. She just wanted to hold it to her mouth and sing into it. A few minutes later tho, she was conducting her own imaginary band with it!

Birthday Girl

It's hard to believe that she is already TWO! Happy Birthday, Baby Girl!

At two years old Madison likes:
  • Babies, babies, babies. She like to put her babies in strollers, in a bed, in a swing. She gives them bottles and kisses them if they cry. She has a few babies that say "Mommy" and when they do, she tries to hand them to me.
  • She likes to dress up and walk around the house in my high healed shoes.
  • She loves anything to do with boats.
  • She still loves M&M's but also loves ice cream and chips.
At two years old Madison can:
  • Say just about anything, even the bad words.
  • Speak in sentences.
  • Follow directions.
  • Dress herself.

Madison's Chores are:

  • Feeding the kitty each day.

Madison is currently learning:

  • ABC's
  • How to go on the potty

Happy Birthday, Madison! This Momma is amazed at all you have learned in two short years!

My New Toy

Okay, so this picture isn't a picture of my new toy - but it was taken with my new toy! I have had my Nikon D80 Digital SLR camera since last Christmas and I just added a new lens to my camera bag. I bought a Nikor 55-200 mm lens with vibration reduction. It will be great for getting those cute pictures of Madison without standing right on top of her. Mike really likes nature photography and it will be great for that too!

I really love the above picture of Madison and the small depth of field. It really makes her pop out of the picture. Now look at her in the picture below; it was taken at the same time.
The sun must have been really bright for her - because she is squinting in all of them...it was a rainy day too!
Anyway - now that I have a new toy, Madison is going to get real tired of seeing my camera...so I might be looking for subjects. Feel free to offer up your cute kids!!

Cute Story

When Mike was little, he LOVED Ernie. He had the sweetest little Ernie doll that has been passed down to Madison. She has had it for quite a long time but only became attached to it when I told her that it used to be her Daddy's toy.

So, today she brought Ernie along with her on the way to daycare. When we got there I told her she had to leave Ernie in the car because she isn't allowed to bring her own toys to daycare. (They cause too many fights and sharing issues.)

This is how it went:

Mommy: Let's put Ernie right here in your carseat and he'll be waiting for you after daycare.
Madison: Okay, bye bye Ernie (as she puts in him in the car seat.)

As we walk up the sidewalk to the front door, I hear a soft little voice say:

"I Yuv you Ernie."

Happy Friday!

Somehow, this week has gone by so quickly! IT'S FRIDAY. Woohoo!

I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend of Brett Farve breaking the all time passing touchdown record. I will be watching it on the TV but Mike will actually be at the game. Go Brett!

One other mildly exciting note - after today, I will be 1/8 of the way towards finishing my MBA with a GPA of 4.0. How sweet is that?
